Lovely Thai- Grayslake, IL
Kim's review- Rich and I haven't been out as much now that the baby is almost due, but we were pleasantly surprised by Lovely Thai. The server was friendly and the food was pretty good for a place out in the burbs. We will be going back for sure.

Weber Grill- Lombard, IL
Kim's review- I was a little disappointed. This restaurant was much better when I visited in 2006. The atmosphere was still enjoyable, but the overall experience due to the food was mediocre. I will not be going back anytime soon. Not worth the price.

Lindy's Restaurant and Marina- Wauconda, IL
Kim's review- Lindy's has a great deck to sit under the stars and enjoy the lake. The food was delicious and the service was great. The food ranged from casual dishes to unique entrées. I was impressed. I must say that the outside of the building does not give you the impression of being a high quality restaurant. I will be back next summer. The view at night is very relaxing and romantic.

Famous Freddie's Roadhouse- Fox Lake, IL
Kim's review- a cool place to grab a drink on a summer night and enjoy the lake. Not somewhere you go to eat. The food is typical bar food (that probably taste much better after a few beers). The crowd is mixed, all ages. It is a nice spot to just sit and talk outside. There is a huge patio and outdoor bar.

Ollie's Trolley- Washington, DC
Kim's Review- When we were in DC we were looking for a quick and casual place to grab a burger. This location had tasty burgers, but it took forever. I understand that some things are worth the wait, but when dealing with a fast food restaurant you are used to quicker service. Considering we were one of the few patrons at the time I would have liked faster service. The hamburger was very good and the fries had a very unique seasoning that made them “different”.

Clyde's Willow Creek Farm- Broadlands, VA
Kim's Review- The service was great, but the food is just average. This is a place that you go to for the atmosphere. It is designed to look like an old southern mansion and has beautiful dining areas and outdoor seating. In the summer and winter they have several bars to choose from. Keep in mind that some of the bar areas require a jacket. Clyde’s is a great place to relax and enjoy the views of the gardens, courtyard, and surrounding area. However, it is a bit pricey for the quality level of the drinks and food.Monday, March 1, 2010
Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe- Libertyville, IL
Kim's Review- Not the typical pancake house. Everything was very fresh. No canned fruit or jared jellies here. There was a large assortment of pancakes, crepes, and omelets. A lot of families were enjoying their weeeknd at Wildberry which made the wait about 15min. Considering that there aren't many breakfast spots in that immediate area the wait wasn't too bad..
Rich's Review - Wildberry, being close to the naval base, does seem to be a favorite for families spending time with their loved ones while on leave. The food was great and all the fruit options were amazing. I can't wait to go back and try some other items from their menu!
Bacchus Nibbles- Kildeer, IL
Kim's Review- Bacchus Nibbles is a great place to just relax and have a romantic dinner. The wine selection is extensive and the service is top notch. Our server went out of his way to explain the menu and help us make our wine selections. The entire staff is extremely polite and gives you the feeling that you are appreciated as a customer. Unlike most restaurants in the suburbs, this one serves dinner until 12:30! Don't let the outside appearance fool you! The interior is very impressive and the wine collection is phenomenal.

India House- Chicago, IL
Kim's Review- I thought the downtown location we visited had a nice ambiance. It was very relaxing and well lit. Of course, what made it even better was that Rich took me there for Valentine's Day. The food was good. I was a little disappointed that the entree was not served with rice. The pricing was a bit high for what was offered, but the selection was extensive. I would go back for a special occasion, but remember that I need to order rice separately to make our meal complete. After a bottle of wine....the rice didn't matter. I had a great time with my Valentine. It was very romantic.

Wishbone- Berwyn, IL
Kim's Review- I've been to Wishbone's two other locations in Chicago and I have to say that this location is my favorite. It's less crowded and has a hometown feel. There was no long wait like the other locations. I also liked the interior, the decor is cozy and has the feeling of being in a small diner- trendy artwork, tufted leather seats, bright natural light. The food was excellent and well priced. I am happy to see Wishbone branching out into other neighborhoods!
Rich's Review - The first time I ever had a southern breakfast, I was blown away. I never ate anything so good (that's the thought I had at the time). Fifteen year later, I've been searching (and waiting very impatiently) for a place in Chicago that offered a real southern breakfast. Breakfast at Wishbone was the closest thing I've ever had to that first breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were really good (using sausage gravy with hardy chunks instead of the ham based gravy that seems to be popular these days). While I admit that I haven't gone past this dish, I'm excited to taste what else they have to offer.

Improv- Schaumburg, IL
Kim's review- Rich and I decided on one cold winter night that it would be a good idea to take my mother to the Improv comedy club. Primarily so we could see the shock on her face as they told inappropriate jokes. Well, besides that we had a good laugh too. The Improv is hit or miss like most comedy clubs. However, if you sign up for their email list they send out invites for free tickets. They require a two drink/item purchase, but with free tickets you can't go wrong. The drinks were so so and the food was mediocre. The Improv is great for a night out when you aren't up for city parking nightmares. When I receive another email invite I will defiantly go again.
Rich's review- Kim suggested we go here and I was a bit hesitant. Upon arriving, I begin to question to myself, just how big of a place this theater really is because it's at Woodfield Mall. I was quite surprised to see that this was actually a very large space, one floor below the ground level. I did enjoy myself once the main act started but the first two comedians were mostly off. That's what you get when you head to see stand up comedy, it can be hit or miss and that about sums the Improv comedy club for me. It's either you're laughing your butt off or questioning why anybody would pay to see the comedian on the stage right now.
